Melodic death metal from the retirement capital of the world,
St. Petersburg, Florida. The Absence will likely be
chasing the elderly from the roads and bocce courts with their
excellent "From Your Grave". Vocally, I could take or
leave this disc, but musically, the band wonders into territory
breached by the likes of Nightrage. Dual guitarists Peter
and Patrick add a certain Gus G. like flare to the proceedings
allowing "From Your Grave" to stand out over other death metal
releases. There are also some Maidenesque gallops on the
disc as well, most noticeably on the title cut. Typically,
not my musical preference, but definitely well done and
listenable even for the casual death metal fan.
