Based out of Windsor, Ontario Canada, Betrayer is a
four-piece melodic power metal band who have recently released a
new three-track CD called "Shadowed Force".
From the opening notes of "Partaker of Evil", you instantly
realize that Betrayer will not be going after any trendy sounds
and are definitely more of a blue collar metal unit.
Betrayer takes a turn towards the classic Helloween style on
"Burden of the Pacifist" with its melodic speed metal passages
intertwined with a traditional approach. Hints of Iron
Maiden are present in the song as well.
Vocalist Jeff Klingbeil really gets to shine on "Shadowed Force"
as he range is put to the test in the upper registers.
Musically, the song sounds like Damien meets Child Of Fire.
The guitar playing of Bill Lozon is quite fluid and sonically
pleasant within the realm of this release. His style
is purely in the form of classic metal with more of an early to
mid 80's tone.
These three songs leave you wanting to hear more, always a good
sign I believe. Betrayer has been doing a good job of
getting the word out on their band and if you are a fan of
classic metal with some serious chops, are well worth your while
to check out.
