BIOMECHANICAL
The Empires Of The Worlds
Earache Records

Biomechanical The Empires Of The Worlds CD Cover

With a bio comparing them to Judas Priest, Pantera and Metallica, Biomechanical is given the arduous task of living up to some mighty big hype on "The Empires Of The Worlds". Well, here is what I came up with in terms of these comparisons: The bio points to the Judas Priest twin guitar assault, but what stands out to me more is a vocal style that calls to mind Ripper Owens on “Jugulator”. There are points within the songs where the guitars call to mind Metallica from the “Master Of Puppets” era as well as some early Slayer riffs.

One thing the CD does not lack is ruthless aggression. This is one intense ride with vocals that are wickedly evil yet comprehensible which makes the album’s appeal all the more apparent. At times the speed heads off into Slayer and The Crown territory but typically reigns back in enough that the disc is not a complete thrash fest.

Andy Sneap in England produced “The Empires Of The Worlds” and the cover art comes from noted artist Nat Jones (Spawn, The Haunted). Biomechanical definitely offers up a punishing release that compares favorably to other Earache favorites of ours such as Deathwitch and Usurper.
