Drummer Jeff Plate of Trans-Siberian Orchestra and Savatage took the time recently to provide The Pure Rock Shop with an in-depth interview regarding TSO’s Ghosts of Christmas Eve 2017 tour which you can listen to below:
During our interview, Jeff, who has been a member of TSO since its origination, talks about TSO being a year around profession for him and how he stays in shape physically as well as keeping his musical chops up.
Jeff also discusses the impact the tragic deaths of bassist Dave Z. and TSO leader and founder Paul O’Neill have had on himself and the band. Jeff talks about how much he learned from Paul with respect to carrying himself as a professional and the impact Paul’s many works of charity have had on him personally.
If you have never had the opportunity to see TSO live, it is an incredible experience and your family or friends will never forget!

Here is a 1999 interview with Paul O’Neill and Chris Caffery we conducted during Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s first tour.
Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s tour will be a celebration of the art and accomplishments of the lauded group’s late creator/composer/lyricist, Paul O’Neill, and his inimitable creation, which he dubbed “Rock Theater.” Prior to his untimely passing, O’Neill worked tirelessly with his close-knit team preparing an exciting new take on “The Ghosts of Christmas Eve” for the 2017 tour. Beginning November 16th, fans will experience this exciting stage spectacle, including new awe-inspiring effects, and staging, certain to make the story even more engaging for fans.
Based on TSO’s multi-platinum DVD and long running PBS fundraiser, “The Ghosts of Christmas Eve,” the rock opera features such enduring fan-favorites as “Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24,” “O’ Come All Ye Faithful,” “Good King Joy,” “Christmas Canon,” “Music Box Blues,” “Promises To Keep,” and “This Christmas Day.” 2017’s tour will also boast a rousing second set containing more of TSO’s greatest hits and fan-pleasers.
As in all previous years, a portion of every ticket sold benefits select local charities. To date, almost $15 million has been distributed from TSO to worthy charities all across North America.
