Russian progressive metal Nordream weaves a beautiful 9 track CD titled “Memories Progression”. On the opening track “Memories Of Hope”, the most noticeable instrument is the piano / keyboards of Julia Chistyakova. At times they sound like they belong in a Savatage song while other keyboards progressions sound like they belong in a Hawkwind song.
While definitely having a progressive edge, Nordream still has enough power and polish to appeal to power metal and gothic metal fans. “Piercing Time Memories” and “Memories I Love” have a definite gothic feel to them. “Memories I Love” has so may different parts and changes that one moment beuatiful keyboards dominate then Rouben Kazariyan’s guitar fires into machine gun riffs from Metallica’s “And Justice For All Era”. Fans of progressive metal that expands beyond the often tight realms of the genre will enjoy the beauty of this release.
